Lenovo announces updated apps and upgrades for Windows 10
Today the industry giant announces free Windows 10 upgrades for existing Windows 7 SP1 and 8.1 users as well as new versions of various apps.

Lenovo is prepared and ready for the Windows 10 launch having recently announced which models will ship with Microsoft's latest OS and which existing models are compatible for the free upgrade on July 29. Toshiba had done a similar list for its own users earlier this week.

The majority of Lenovo devices, such as the Yoga 2 Pro and Yoga 500, are compatible with Windows 10. Lenovo provides a detailed overview of its more recent models and the guide can be seen through our sources below. Users who have registered for the Windows 10 upgrade will receive a notification automatically once the download is completed and confirmed.

The manufacturer has also announced that certain Lenovo-specific applications will be updated to better adapt to Windows 10. Lenovo Companion 3.0, for example, will feature an improved interface and optimization tool for automatic updates. Lenovo Settings 3.0 will have a smart control hub, sensor and temperature readouts, and other power settings to adapt to the needs of the user. Lenovo models shipping with Windows 10 pre-installed will also already have the latest versions of these apps.

Lastly, Lenovo plans to launch the revamped Reachit app later this Fall for its Windows 10 users. The content management software will work with Microsoft Cortana to provide better search results. North American users can sign up for the beta on www.cortanareachit.com to test the app in advance. Otherwise, Lenovo users must wait until later this year for the app to automatically update when the release goes final.

After graduating with a B.S. in environmental hydrodynamics from the University of California, I studied reactor physics to become licensed by the U.S. NRC to operate nuclear reactors. There's a striking level of appreciation you gain for everyday consumer electronics after working with modern nuclear reactivity systems astonishingly powered by computers from the 80s.
