Reviews for the Lenovo ZUK Z2
A lot of smartphone for little money. With the second generation of the Z series, ZUK continues where the Z1 model left off: Very good technical specifications at a low purchase price. Only a handful of manufacturers manage a Snapdragon 820, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of ROM for 270 Euros (~$302). Find out in our report where Lenovo's subsidiary brand ZUK had to make cutbacks.

The ZUK Z2 is a well-built phone with great top-of-the-range hardware backing it. It's progressively becoming rarer to see 5-inch devices and they're significantly more comfortable - at least in my case - to hold and use. The fingerprint sensor on the phone (integrated into the home button) is extremely responsive and almost always works seamlessly and the phone itself tends to feel solid and well constructed.

One of the best phones to come out of China this year, the Zuk Z2 offers cutting-edge specs at a fraction of the cost – but beware of resellers flashing ropey firmware to imported handsets.

Clearly, using this phone is not for the faint hearted. The number of hoops you need to go through to get an OTA (over the air) update is frightening and highlights the gulf that exists between established brands like Huawei or Samsung and those -- which, like ZUK -- aspire to match them.

In the end, the ZUK Z2 is a prime example of a phone that could certainly become a hit but will probably have to be sidelined until the major issues highlighted before are solved.

In 2011, it acquired a majority stake in Medion AG, a European computer hardware manufacturer. In 2014, Motorola Mobility was purchased, which gave Lenovo a boost in the smartphone market.
77.4%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
