The ongoing RAM and storage price fluctuations have forced OEMs into increasing their pricing strategies, and Lenovo is no exception. However, attractive laptop deals can still be found, contingent on one looking hard enough.
For instance, the well-equipped Lenovo ThinkPad X9 laptop is now available with a massive 32% or $687.12 discount on Lenovo's official online store, bringing its price down to $1,421.88. This specific variant ships with the Core Ultra 7 268V SoC, 32 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB SSD.
Lenovo ThinkPad X9 sports 32 GB of RAM, 8-core Lunar Lake SoC
The Intel Core Ultra 7 268V SoC powering the ThinkPad is no slouch, and is almost neck-and-neck with the new Core Ultra 7 355 Panther Lake SoC in multicore CPU benchmarks.
In simpler terms, the vast majority of day-to-day workloads and even a few moderately intensive ones should not be out of the ThinkPad X9 laptop's league.
It is worth noting that the laptop sports 32 GB of LPDDR5X-8533 RAM which is not upgradeable, and might be a major disappointment for many folks. However, there is no doubt that 32 GB of RAM is more than enough for most workloads in 2026, and should remain that way for the foreseeable future.
The Arc 140V iGPU should manage playable frame rates in modern AAA titles, albeit only at very modest settings. Some occasional lightweight video editing should also be possible. In terms of raw performance, the Arc 140V falls somewhere between the Radeon 880M and RTX 2050 Mobile.
The ThinkPad also packs a beautiful 14-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2880 x 1800, 120 Hz refresh rate, and claimed 100% coverage of the P3 color gamut. Our test unit of the Lenovo ThinkPad X9 was equipped with a different display, although it did live up to Lenovo's claim of complete DCI-P3 coverage. However, the 500-nit peak brightness might not be able to appease HDR fanatics.
The ThinkPad X9 is not without a few notable flaws
Our detailed review of the ThinkPad X9 laptop was also quite promising in terms of overall performance and build quality, although ours was equipped with a less potent chip. That said, we did note that the fans have a tendency of getting somewhat loud under load, and the lack of USB-A ports might also fail to pass some shoppers' checklists.
All told, the Lenovo ThinkPad X9 is definitely a promising package, especially at its current price. Those who can look past its soldered memory and lack of full-size USB-A ports, will likely be quite satisfied with the laptop.
Needless to say, interested buyers are definitely advised to refer to our in-depth review of the laptop before making up their mind.
