Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Yoga G4 21F20017GE

The latest to join the Lenovo family is none other than the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Yoga G4. As far as its design is concerned, it is undeniable that every time one thinks of ThinkPad, the red colored trackpoint on the keyboard is instantly recognizable and the X13 Gen 4 is no different. Furthermore, the body has a classic black casing (although it does come in Storm Grey too) with the same exact ThinkPad logo which everyone can nostalgically recall. The weight of the laptop is incredibly lightweight, weighing at only 2.4 lbs. This can be considered as the perfect size for travel and great for those always on the move who need to present or pack their laptop up for business travel frequently. Apart from that, there is nothing particularly standout about the appearance of the X13 other than that the top lid protrudes slightly out for both the camera that also serves as an easier opening to the device.

As for its ports, there is plenty to get whatever job done. The device has been equipped with two USB-A ports, two Thunderbolt ports, a Kensington Nano security slot, an HDMI port, a headphone jack and a smart card reader. Talking about its display, the X13 carries a new 16:10 aspect ratio display that measures at 13.3 inches with 1920 x 1200 pixels. However, there are other variants that go up higher in resolution and swaps the IPS panel for an OLED one at a higher cost if so desired. At a glance, it does feel like that this display has been built for those who are in Excel frequently or even engineering applications. This is due to the fact that the vibrancy and sharpness is just not quite up to par for someone who would be in Figma or Photoshop all day long. While Lenovo has done a terrific job with antiglare and solid black reproduction, it still does not feel like the display was a priority for this product line. Simply put, Lenovo clearly knows its audience and seems to target features on certain lineups to cater towards that demographic.

Putting all this aside, one of the greatest strengths of the X13 is its almost full-sized keyboard with a comfortable touchpad. Despite the compact size of the laptop, the keys are well spaced and have a solid tactile feel. It is undeniable that the keyboard’s layout would be easy for those using Excel or other quantitative applications to sort through pages and documents quickly. It is worth noting that the signature red trackpoint is still functional for precision movement. This is honestly an acquired taste that only those who are accustomed to ThinkPad living use. Overall, it is a great device to be explored, depending on the need and preference of the user.

The ThinkPad series upholds Lenovo’s laptop line traditions while adding more features to keep up with technological advancements. The ThinkPad X13 Yoga Gen 4 is Lenovo’s latest model, featuring an Intel 13th generation processor, Intel Iris Xe graphics card, DDR5 RAM, and other functionalities. While its design closely resembles other ThinkPad models, it doesn’t change the fact that it’s as iconic as the rest. Additionally, the laptop boasts a decent display that delights users with vivid natural colors, precise shade reproduction, and an anti-glare coating. Certainly, there are some drawbacks, but they are not significant. For instance, the soldered RAM may be a downside, but frankly speaking, 32 GB is sufficient for tackling any tasks. Additionally, there’s some heating of the chassis and fan noise under heavy loads, but it’s not critical either.
