Lenovo ThinkPad T420s now on sale

New high-end ThinkPad is a variant of the more common T420, but in a smaller, lighter, and thinner package

Plenty of Lenovo ThinkPads have been made available recently, including the E420s, W520, G470 and G570, and X220 and X220t, but now the T420s model can be added to the growing list as well.

As a 14-inch, thinner variant of the T420 model, the T420s will be between 0.83 to 1.02-inches thick compared to the 1.18 to 1.2-inches of the standard T420, according to Laptoping. As is common with the T-series, the laptop will come in a sturdy magnesium alloy chassis.

As for the internal hardware, the T420s gets similar options compared to the T420, including Core i3 or Core i5 processors, Intel HD 3000 integrated graphics or Nvidia NVS 4200M with Optimus, and up to 8 GB RAM. A secondary battery can be inserted into the optical drive bay if desired for additional run time. Otherwise, its single 6-cell battery module alone should last up to an already impressive 10 hours.

Other connectivity options for the notebook include 3G, USB 3.0, 720p webcam, 160GB SSD, and Bluetooth 3.0.

The ThinkPad T420s is available now here through Lenovo’s official website starting at $1199.

After graduating with a B.S. in environmental hydrodynamics from the University of California, I studied reactor physics to become licensed by the U.S. NRC to operate nuclear reactors. There's a striking level of appreciation you gain for everyday consumer electronics after working with modern nuclear reactivity systems astonishingly powered by computers from the 80s.
