Lenovo ThinkPad W520 now available for purchase
After the release of the G470, G570 and ThinkPad E420s, Lenovo is releasing their newest models into the market at a rapid pace. The latest Sandy Bridge notebook to hit the scene, is the ThinkPad W520 which is aimed at business consumers and is now up for grabs from Lenovo’s online store.
The ThinkPad W520 is Lenovo’s competitor to the 15” MacBook Pro and at around $350 cheaper it could manage to cut into Apple’s sales. The 15.6” notebook comes with at least a Core i7-2620 processor but can be customized with up to a powerful Core i7-2920XM running at 2.5 GHz. The standard version of the laptop will also come with a resolution of 1366x768 pixels; however, Lenovo offers optional screens with either a 1600x900 pixel resolution or up to a Full HD 1920x1080 pixel resolution screen for $250 more. Otherwise, the laptop also features an NVIDIA Quadro 1000M with Optimus drivers, 4GB of RAM (max. of 32GB) and dual storage drives on select models.
With Sandy Bridge floodgates being opened, Lenovo is trying not to miss out on any of the fun. While it may not be the ThinkPad X220, the W520 is aimed at premier consumers and can be customized with over $4,000 of inner hardware. However, the standard version does retail for only $1,449 and looks like it should attract businessman of all sorts.
