85% Lenovo ThinkPad L470 (i5-7200U, FHD-IPS) Laptop Review | Notebookcheck
Gray mouse with legacy features. In Lenovo's wide lineup of 14-inch ThinkPads, the L470 finds its place in the lower midfield: below the T series, but above the E series. Why the low-priced business notebook is highly recommended and which advantages it has over the other models, you can find out in our extensive review.
70% Lenovo ThinkPad L470 Review
Source: Laptop Mag English
Providing durability, a top-notch typing experience, long battery life and varied configurations, the ThinkPad L470 is a good choice for business-oriented users on a budget. If you can splurge and pay an extra $154 or so, the ThinkPad T470 is lighter, has speedier performance and offers longer battery life. However, if an affordable and powerful 14-inch business laptop is up your alley, the ThinkPad L470 could be right for you. Just be sure to get the 6-cell battery.

Series: The Lenovo ThinkPad L470 is built for small-to-medium-size businesses with big requirements and modest budgets. It offers a great mix of durability, security, and usability, all at an affordable price. The ThinkPad L470 has the same, simple, black aesthetic as most of Lenovo's other business laptops, but it is made of cheaper-looking material than its more expensive siblings. However, the body feels very solid and sturdy, with hinges that seem especially tight. The ThinkPad L470 is designed to withstand some abuse. The laptop is tough and durable enough for any job like all ThinkPads. It has also undergone internal bump and stress tests to make sure it can handle getting knocked around as users travel. The spill-resistant keyboard takes small water splashes and drains them out of a hole in the bottom of the system. It is tested against 12 military-grade requirements and is engineered to survive all conditions. Under the hood, the laptop is powered by up to Intel Core i7-7500U processor clocked at 2.7 GHz. It comes with up to 32 GB DDR4 memory. The user can configure the L470 laptop storage and offers the latest and fastest PCIe solid-state drive. One notable option is Intel’s new Optane SSD, which uses its new “stacked” 3D XPoint technology that stacks memory cells vertically instead of horizontally as seen in current NAND-based storage solutions. The L470 flaunts a 14-inch HD anti-glare display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It offers accurate colors, sharp details and solid viewing angles. In terms of battery life, it offers more than 12 hours. The long battery life allows staying productive throughout the business day. It runs Microsoft Windows 10 Pro Signature Edition operating system.

The ThinkPad T470 focuses on security with features such as a discrete Trusted Platform Module 2.0 chip, a fingerprint scanner, and an infrared camera option. Instead of using login credentials, owners can simply look at the laptop or swipe their fingers to access the machine via Windows Hello. Lenovo preloads the ThinkPad L470 with a few useful utilities and a small amount of bloatware. Lenovo Solution Center performs hardware scans, provides detailed system information and has links to support resources. Lenovo Settings gives fine control over network card, touchpad, webcam and other key subsystems. Lenovo Companion provides a lot of the same functionality as Solution Center, checking system health and linking to the company's support forums and knowledge base. SHAREit makes it easy to transfer files among devices over Wi-Fi. The laptop includes a wide variety of ports to fit any needs. A user can choose from VGA, mDP, RJ-45, mechanical and USB 3.0 dock. It comes with a headphone and microphone combo jack as well. In terms of connectivity, it has LTE-A (4G) connectivity and thus, even when out of Wi-Fi range, a user can access their data and apps with a simple click.

Intel HD Graphics 620: Integrated GPU (GT2) found on some Kaby-Lake CPU models (15 W ULV series).

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

7200U: Kaby-Lake based SoC with two CPU cores clocked at 2.5 to 3.1 GHz, HyperThreading and manufactured with an improved 14nm process.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

Above all, this display size is used for subnotebooks, ultrabooks and convertibles. For all three types, this size is quite large. The biggest variety of subnotebooks is represented with this size.

Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.

1.94 kg:

This weight is typical for very big tablets, subnotebooks, ultrabooks and convertibles with a 11-13 inch display-diagonal.

Lenovo: Lenovo ( "Le" as in the English word legend and "novo" (Latin) for new) was founded in 1984 as a Chinese computer trading company. From 2004, the company has been the largest laptop manufacturer in China and got the fourth largest manufacturer worldwide after the acquisition of IBM's PC division in 2005. In addition to desktops and notebooks, the company also produces monitors, projectors, servers, etc.

In 2011, Lenovo acquired the majority of Medion AG, a European computer hardware manufacturer. In 2014, Lenovo took over Motorola Mobility, which gave them a boost in the smartphone market.

From 2014 to 2016 Lenovo's market share in the global notebook market was 20-21%, ranking second behind HP. However, the distance decreased gradually. In the smartphone market, Lenovo did not belong to the Top 5 global manufacturers in 2016.

77.5%: This rating is not convincing. The laptop is evaluated below average, this is not really a recommendation for purchase.
