Thanks to a new plating method, Legend can cover the glass back of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ flagships with 24K gold, also adding VVS1-grade diamonds around the Samsung logo, all for around $3,000 USD.
Codrut Nistor,

Although the design of Samsung's latest flagships has been well received by the public, for some people there is never enough. After all, why get the golden color Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+, when one can get them customized with 24K gold plating on the back as well?

Finnish company Legend has been around for a few years, and their products go beyond the straightforward gold plating applied by other luxury brands involved in customizing smartphones. Their basic custom Galaxy S8/S8+, for example, comes with 24K gold-plating on all sides and its glass back, as well as VVS1-grade diamonds around the Samsung logo. Those who want more can add hand engraving, exotic leather, various gemstones, or a custom logo. For a price, of course.

The basic Galaxy S8 has a price tag of €2,790 EUR ($2,993 USD), while the Galaxy S8+ is slightly more expensive, being available for €2,890 EUR ($3,100 USD). All devices customized by Legend come in a luxury presentation box that also includes a leather folder with a certificate of authenticity.

Although I have been writing about new software and hardware for almost a decade, I consider myself to be old school. I always enjoy listening to music on CD or tape instead of digital files and I will not even get into the touchscreen vs physical keys debate. However, I also enjoy new technology, as I now have the chance to take a look at the future every day. I joined the Notebookcheck crew back in 2013 and I have no plans to leave the ship anytime soon.
