Google's next set of Pixel Buds Pro earbuds are set to be unveiled later today alongside a slew of new Pixel smartphones. In the meantime, a reliable leaker has shared various upgrades that Google will showcase with the Pixel Buds Pro 2, including a new in-house Tensor chipset aimed at improving noise cancellation.

Leaker @MysteryLupin has provided more details about the Pixel Buds Pro 2, Google's long-awaited successor to the ageing Pixel Buds Pro (curr. $139.99 on Amazon). For context, Google will reveal its new earbuds later today, along with plenty of other Pixel devices. As it stands, the following products are expected to land during the company's next 'Made by Google' event:

According to @MysteryLupin, Google is planning to introduce various upgrades to the Pixel Buds Pro series with a second-generation model. While design changes like a more ergonomic fit and updated colours were already known, the leaker alleges that the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will also showcase Google's inaugural Tensor A series chipset.

Appropriately dubbed the Tensor A1, the chipset is said to be the first within the Tensor family aimed at true wireless stereo (TWS) implementations. Supposedly, Google will advertise the Tensor A1 as being designed to improve active noise cancellation (ANC) effectiveness, thereby addressing a shortcoming of the existing Pixel Buds Pro. What other uses Google may have for the Tensor A1 remain unknown for now, though.

Unfortunately, the chipset appears to be rather power-hungry, as official battery life estimates have dropped from 11 to 8 hours. By another metric, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 should last about 30 hours when factoring in its charging case, an hour less than its predecessors. Unsurprisingly, the new Pixel Buds Pro will continue to support Google's Conversation Detection, as well as Bluetooth Multipoint and Google Fast Pair. Supposedly, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will start at £219 in the UK, $229 in the US, and €249 in the Eurozone.
