The first renders of the OnePlus 8T have been published, courtesy of OnLeaks and Pricebaba. OnePlus may have already released three smartphones in 2020, but the year would not be complete without a T series. A possible render of the OnePlus 8T surfaced two weeks ago, but the front of the device is practically indistinguishable from that of the OnePlus 8. Renders published by OnLeaks and Pricebaba offer a more substantial view of the OnePlus 8T, though.
It seems that OnePlus has reduced the size of the bezels for this year's mid-cycle upgrade while also switching to a flat screen instead of the curved one that it uses on the OnePlus 8. The punch-hole returns, albeit one for a single selfie camera, unlike the OnePlus Nord. One of the biggest changes from the OnePlus 8 to the OnePlus 8T is the rear-facing camera arrangement. OnePlus has tinkered with the arrangement of its rear-facing cameras over the last few years, including the unusual-looking OnePlus 7T. However, the rear-facing camera housing on the OnePlus 8T bears an uncanny resemblance to the one found on the Samsung Galaxy S20.
According to a recent leak, the OnePlus 8T will feature a 48 MP main camera, along with 16 MP ultra-wide angle sensor, 5 MP macro and 2 MP portrait cameras. The device is expected to ship with a Snapdragon 865 or Snapdragon 865 Plus too, which will be complemented by up to 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. A 6.55-inch and 90 Hz display is supposedly also due, as is a 4,500 mAh battery that can charge at up to 65 W.
