Leak points to a Mini version of the Galaxy S4 Active

Teaser
The newest member of the Galaxy family is a decidedly budget water resistant phone

With such a large number of Galaxy S4 variants already on the market and the Galaxy S5 on the horizon, it comes as a surprise that Samsung isn't quite done with the S4 line yet. At least one more model seems set to join the family before the end of the year – the Mini Galaxy S4 Active.

From the name alone, one would assume that the Mini S4 Active should be to the S4 Active what the Galaxy S4 Mini was to the original GS4 – a reasonable smartphone with somewhat paired down internals in a smaller size. In reality, it couldn't be more different. While the full sized GS4 Active is a near match to the original S4 in terms of internals, the Active Mini is quite a step down from the current GS4 Mini, and doesn't even manage the smaller size very well.

The upcoming phone features a 4.65-inch 800 x 480 display, a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Plus processor with Adreno 305 graphics, 1 GB of RAM, Android 4.2, a 0.3 MP front-facing camera, and a 5 MP back-facing camera. It is also water and dust resistant like its larger sibling.

Despite the awkward name, this phone seems to have little in common with either the S4 Mini or the S4 Active. It is clearly a new budget model possibly only intended for developing countries. It would certainly need to be priced aggressively if Samsung hopes to sell them in any significant numbers.
