Renders of Samsung’s next Windows on Snapdragon device have surfaced thanks to Slashleaks. As we surmised when it first made an appearance in GeekBench, it is an ultrabook and it looks very thin and appealing particularly if you’re a fan of Lenovo’s similar Yoga C630.

Samsung is still pursuing Windows on Snapdragon devices. As we correctly surmised when it first appeared on GeekBench recently, its motherboard suggested that it wasn’t a sequel to the Galaxy Book 2, but rather would take on an ultrabook form factor. The new renders from Slashleaks demonstrate, this is indeed what Samsung has been cooking up and looks set to take on the Lenovo C630 in the category.

Given the TDP of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 which powers the new Galaxy Book S, although the device is ultrathin it will not require active cooling for silent operation. Its sleek grey chassis sports at least one USB-C port along with a 3.55mm headphone jack. While we don’t yet know the resolution of the display, we would guess that it is at least a 1080p IPS panel and with its ultrathin bezels looks like it will pack in at least a 13.3-inch panel. Given that it has a full-size keyboard, the ultrathin bezels could even point to a 14-inch panel, which would be great for mobile productivity.

Although it is a little surprising that Samsung hasn’t opted for the WoS-optimized Snapdragon 8cx, we are glad to see that it has given the Snapdragon 855 8 GB of RAM to help ensure that x86 Office-style apps should run fine. That said, it might still be better utilized for web apps along the same vein as a Chromebook. You can expect battery life to be over 10 hours while it will also support at least 4G connectivity for always-on, always-connected functionality. As it still isn’t official, we don’t have any pricing or launch details, but it could make an appearance at the Galaxy Note 10 launch on August 7.

I have been tech-obsessed from the time my father introduced me to my first computer, an Apple ][. Since then, I have grown to enjoy exploring and experimenting with any computing platform that I can get my hands on – I am the definitive early adopter! I have always been interested in how we can use technology to shape and improve our lives, most recently using it to record, mix and master my debut record, Acuity – Nature | Nurture out now on Spotify.
