Reviews for the LG X Power K220
Long lasting. LG's X Power wants to persuade with a gigantic battery and low price. The Korean manufacturer also treats it to a quick-charge feature and USB OTG that allows recharging friends' smartphones. Find out just how long the battery really lasts and whether the smartphone shines in other aspects in this report.

Archive.org versionGlobal brands are now making their effort to catch up with local bang-for-the-buck competitors, and the LG X Power is indeed a surprise for us as it’s a phone unexpected for a global brand> At Php8,495, the phone can compete with other devices in its price range with its long-lasting power, good rear optics and capable performance.

Archive.org versionFor the price, the LG X Power is a capable phone for Boost Mobile users that can keep you browsing, texting, and talking for hours longer than most comparable devices. The Samsung Galaxy J7 gets you a brighter AMOLED display, a sharper camera, and features like NFC and dual-band Wi-Fi, but it'll cost you $70 more. The LG Stylo 2 is more affordable and has some useful stylus-optimized features, but it's held back by an aging processor.

Archive.org versionFor a phone that's all about the battery, we expected this to last even longer - like its rivals do. The camera is poor in low light and the components are low powered. There's not much to like here.

Archive.org versionWho is this phone for? This phone is really for those out there who do not require a flagship phone with the fastest processor or the most stylish design. This is for the average Joe and Jill who want a phone that just works and lasts for a long time before needing to be charged. Sure it may not interact with Android Auto as it should but there was a way around that, but once again, the people who this phone is targetted at are unlikely to use Android Auto. This would be the perfect phone for my mother, my father, probably even my wife, and especially younger kids who MUST have a phone but do not require the best phone around.

Archive.org versionThe LG X Power has a name that may suggest powerful performance, but it’s all about the battery. This mid-ranger isn’t a device made to impress, and it’s really meant for users who don’t do that much on their phones yet often complain about battery life. If messaging and social media are your primary uses, whereas gaming and video are not, the X Power is well suited for you.

Archive.org versionWhen you draw the line, the LG X Power hits a few home runs: its battery life topped our charts and that’s truly special. The phone will last you two and even three days on a single charge, something that those owning flagships will envy you for.

Archive.org versionValue is pretty decent as you can pick up this device off-contract at major carriers up here in Canada for $249 CAD. In the USA you should be able to pick it up for well under $200 and depending on where you pick it up, it could be unlocked. At the start of testing, only Bell was carrying it here in the Great White North, but now it's available almost everywhere. Overall this phone is great and delivers on LGs promise of a phone with a huge battery that isn't a huge device. If you're looking for a phone that you'll have to charge a couple times a week instead of a couple times a day, this is about your only choice. As I mentioned earlier, there are a few things that could be better, but overall it won't disappoint; not for the price.

Archive.org versionNow we return to the question posed at the beginning of this review: is the LG X Power good enough to be someone’s starter phone? My answer would have to be no. I wish for the sake of its glorious battery, that I could recommend it, but it’s many flaws disallow me from doing so in good conscience. There are simply better options in the same range.

Model: The LG X Power K220 is an affordable smartphone with decent specification ideal for mid level users. The smartphone weighs at 139 g (4.9 oz) and measures at 148.9 x 74.9 x 7.9 mm (5.86 x 2.95 x 0.31 in). The LG X Power K220 has a functional plastic casing with a chrome finishing edge. Although it is not a metal chassis, it still feels solid and pleasant to hold with a textured back cover. For users who have a sweaty palm, the texture on the back cover provides more grip to hold. There are three color options to choose from, which are Indigo, White, Gold. The LG X Power K220 is powered by a Mediatek MT6735 chipset and 2 GB of RAM. As for storage, it features an internal storage of 16 GB. 16 GB of internal memory could be insufficient for users who capture many photos or store a lot of documents and videos. This situation can be solved by adding up to 256 GB of external storage via the dedicated microSD card slot.
The primary 13 MP f/2.2 camera features autofocus and LED flash. Additional features of the primary camera includes geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, smile detection, voice activation, self-timer, high dynamic range mode (HDR) and panorama. In addition, it is capable of capturing 1080p video at 30 fps. The secondary 5 MP f/2.4 aperture camera is able to record 1080p videos, too. The smartphone features a 5.3-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and multi-touch support. It has a screen-to-body ratio of 69.4% and a pixel density of approximately 277 ppi. To resist the screen from damages and scratches, it is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. While Gorilla Glass 3 is strong enough, it is definitely not as good as the latest Gorilla Glass 5.
As for battery, it has a non-removable Li-Ion 4100 mAh battery built in, which is a much higher capacity than what is commonly available in the market. In addition, it supports fast battery charging. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and there aren't any news on an 7.0 upgrade. It will probably not get it as is the case for many mid-range and low-end devices. However, LG's software already includes some of the newer features available on Android 7.0. For wireless connectivity, it features 2G/3G/4G network, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, FM radio and GPS. As for input/output, it features microUSB v2.0 and headphone jack. Sensors built in on the smartphone include accelerometer, proximity, and compass. The LG is a good device for the typical mid-range users, but it falls short in terms of its screen and is quite pricey when compared to what some of the Chinese phone makers have to offer. What is loses on its screen and price range, it gains on its battery life.
