Reviews for the LG X Cam

82% LG X Cam Smartphone Review | Notebookcheck
Camera expert. LG's latest product line with an "X" in its name combines mid-range smartphones with handpicked features that are normally found in the smartphone premium range. LG's X Cam stands out with a special "x-tra" in the camera section. Find out whether the camera module's quality is also "x-tra" good.
Do You Need To Buy The LG X Cam?
Source: Tech Girl English Archive.org version
The dual-camera is the major selling point on the LG X Cam with everything else being very mediocre. It is definitely a mid-range phone from LG so don’t let the lack of bells and whistles deter you from getting one. Cameras on mid-range smart phones tend to be the first to get cut in the quest to save money, so if you’re a photo junkie on a budget and looking to get a great camera smart phone the LG X Cam is for you. You’ll also be able to say you had the latest in Smartphone innovation before all the usual suspects clamour to buy the new iPhone. That definitely gets a bonus point from me!

Hands-on: LG X Cam smartphone
Source: Tech Smart English Archive.org version
The dual cam setup on the LG G5 (review) worked so well because it allowed to go wide on your shots – a surprisingly useful addition. As could be hoped for, LG made the wise move and also incorporated a similar dual lens setup on the midrange X Cam. TechSmart recently had the opportunity to go hands-on with the new X Cam smartphone at its launch in Nelson Mandela Square, Sandton. Here a few of our thoughts.

[Review] LG X Cam: o smartphone intermediário com duas câmeras traseiras
Source: Gizmodo English Archive.org version
Positive: Beautiful design. Negative: High price; easy to scratch; low autonomy; poor cameras.

Comment

Model: The LG X Cam is one of the two phones that was announced by LG during the Mobile World Congress 2016 (MWC 2016) in Barcelona, the largest smartphone exhibition in the world. It was finally available to the public in June 2016. Based on the first impression, the LG X Cam looks like a premium phone due to its precision 3D Arc Glass design. The phone is made using plastic and it feels a bit cheap. This is quite odd as many manufacturers have chosen to use metal even for their cheaper devices. The Android OS v.60 Marshmallow system with LG skin features a Mediatek MT6753 octa-core processor, 2 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 16 GB. The storage capacity can be expanded by up to 256 GB using the microSD slot. These specs lean more towards the lower-end category. For users who are looking into gaming and more multitasking, this phone probably isn't the right choice.

Its 5.2-inch IPS LCD display features a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and supports multi-touch. The display has good clarity, sharpness, details, colors and resolution. It is good for watching movies, playing games and browsing the Internet. However, the selling point of LG X Cam is the camera. The smartphone comes equipped with a primary dual camera with 13 MP and 5 MP sensor and 120 degrees wide angle lens on the rear, which features an f/2.0 aperture, LED flash, autofocus, geo-tagging, touch focus, panorama, and face detection. Instead of the conventional one sensor used in most smartphones’ cameras, the LG X Cam's double sensors help users to add more depth into the photos and make the photos look a bit wider. While the smartphone is a lower mid-range smartphone, the double camera sensors are equal to the ones used on LG G5 and V20, LG’s flagship models. However, it takes long to switch between different modes and the autofocus requires some time to lock onto the targets. In addition, the phone features a secondary 8 MP camera on the front.

Both cameras are able to record videos in 1080p resolution at 30 fps and support video file formats such as H.264 and MP4. For audio file formats, it supports FLAC, MP3, eAAC+ and WAV. The LG X Cam also comes with additional sensors like accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, and proximity sensor. The smartphone is available in 4 different colors for the user to choose from: Pink Gold, Gold, Titan Silver, and White. It has a convenient weight of 118 g and a non-removable 2520 mAh battery that can last up to 260 hours on standby and 7 hours of talk time. Overall, the LG X Cam is a decent lower mid-range smartphone with dual camera and Full HD display. This phone will suite users who are keen on getting a good, budget-friendly camera phone more than anything else.

ARM Mali-T720 MP4: Integrated graphics card with four clusters clocked at up to 600 MHz. The chip supports OpenGL ES 3.1 and is typically produced in 28nm.

These graphics cards are not suited for Windows 3D games. Office and Internet surfing however is possible.

5.20":

It is a very small display format for smartphones. You should by no means be mis-sighted and you will generally see very little on the screen and only have a small resolution available. In return, the device should be very small and handy.

LG:

LG Electronics Inc. is a subsidiary of LG Group. It is a South Korean company and was founded as Goldstar Co, Ltd, in 1958. The group offers products in the fields of information technology, consumer electronics and mobile communications, and home appliances. LG Electronics is the world's third largest home appliance manufacturer. As a notebook manufacturer, LG only became known to a wider audience in the German-speaking market in 2005. After a few years, LG largely withdrew from the laptop sector. The product range includes OLED, LED/LCD and plasma TVs, home theater systems, Blu-ray players as well as audio and video players.

77.29%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
