LG G6 US launch on April 7th looks increasingly likely
A little over a month ago Evan Blass revealed a potential launch date for LG’s flagship smartphone, the LG G6: April 7th. This global release date is almost a month after the Korean launch that occurred on March 9th and only two weeks ahead of Samsung’s expected launch date for the Galaxy S8 in stores on April 21st. New information seems to support the accuracy of the rumored April 7th launch date.
In addition to this, Blass also said that the white version of the LG G6 will not be sold in the US. LG is creating different versions of the LG G6 tailored to consumer behavior in specific regions. As we already learned at MWC, the US will also not get the HiFi audio DAC that LG is including in phones sold in Korea and other Asian markets. However, the version of the G6 sold in the US will have Qi/PMA wireless charging while the devices sold in other regions will not have this feature.
As the Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6 have similar spec sheets (with the Galaxy S8 being the superior option) and launch dates within only weeks of each other, the competition between these two phones is intense. The LG G6 comes with a 5.7-inch QHD+ display, the Snapdragon 821 chipset, 4GB of RAM, a 3300 mAh battery and Android Nougat.
