Kia has officially launched its new electric hatchback in the UK. The EV4 promises the longest range of all the company's battery-powered models to date.
Kia released the sedan version in its home market in April and has already topped the list of best-selling electric sedans in South Korea. The hatchback is now available for orders in the UK starting from July 1st.
The EV4 hatchback is built off the E-GMP platform, which Kia has used for several of its EVs already. It offers battery pack options of 58.2 kWh and 81.4 kWh lasting 273 miles and 388 miles (WLTP estimates), respectively, before needing a charge. The former charges from 10 to 80 percent in 29 minutes, while the latter requires an additional two minutes on a 350 kW DC fast charger.
The Kia EV4 is available in four trims: Air Standard Range (£34,695), Air Long Range (£37,695), GT-Line (£39,395), and GT-Line S (£43,895). The last two trims' driving range drops to 362 miles.
Performance-wise, the new EV4's single front-mounted electric motor outputs 150 kW and can power from 0 to 62 mph in 7.5 seconds. The speed tops out at 105 mph.
Other features include a 435-liter boot space, two 12.3-inch screens, ChatGPT integration with voice activation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
Kia will manufacture the EV4 hatchback in Slovakia, with deliveries expected in the Fall. The automaker stated that the new EV was specifically designed for the European market suggesting it might not come to the US.
Kia is releasing a fastback variant of the EV4, but there are no details of the car yet.
