The handheld fan advertises an "AI protection chip" to ensure safety, but the manufacturer is vague on what the AI chip actually does.

After recently launching the Neckfan Pro1, JisuLife is now shipping its next product the Handheld Fan Pro1 S to customers. The manufacturer has sent us a test sample for our honest impressions. The portable fan is admittedly not cheap at $70 USD and so our expectations are a bit high even for a simple fan.

We're relieved to say that the Fan Pro1 S is a no-frills high quality handheld fan that's reflective of the high asking price. It's a simple fan with an On/Off switch on the back and a wheel on the front for adjusting fan speeds from 1 to 100 percent. The entire unit is quite weighty at about 260 g since it houses a Li-Ion battery. An LED screen on the front of the device displays the fan speed percentage and battery life remaining.

The best aspects of the fan are its high fan speeds and long battery life of several hours even when on a relatively high setting. Charging is done via USB-C much like on a smartphone.

The main disadvantage to the fan is its very loud noise even when on low settings. Since the fan diameter is so small (~ 40 mm), it must operate faster and thus more loudly than we would like. We're able to record a noise of 82.6 dB(A) at the 1 percent fan setting up to 92 dB(A) at 100 percent. For reference, most laptop speakers top out at 80 to 85 dB(A). Anything above the 40 percent setting may be a bit too loud for a typical office environment but it's otherwise not an issue when outdoors.

We would love to see some changes to the handheld fan to make it even better. The fan, for example, should be more easily removable to make cleaning simpler. The Li-Ion battery should be more easily removable as well in case of replacement. The entire unit is also a bit heavy and it just barely fits inside of a pants pocket. Perhaps a folding a design made out of lighter materials could make the unit easier to carry.
