Jaguar Type 01 EV officially unveiled: The EV for Bond villains

The British brand Jaguar caused quite a stir at the end of 2024 with the Type 00 prototype, as the company sought to completely reposition the brand with its “Copy Nothing” project. At the time, the new design, including its pink paint job, sparked considerable controversy across the automotive world.
By now, Jaguar appears to have dropped the pink, but the design of the newly unveiled Type 01 EV still retains much of the radical new design philosophy, despite the now less eye-catching color scheme. And Jaguar is apparently willing to embrace the polarization this approach creates, clearly positioning itself as a luxury and design brand. The Type 01 EV is intended to lead Jaguar into its “all-electric future” as the first model in a new lineup.
One particularly striking feature is the EV’s almost absurdly long nose, along with the wide, grille-like structures at the front and rear. Despite its seemingly truncated front end, Jaguar says it will be the brand’s most aerodynamic and most powerful road car.
The EV also turns heads on the technical side: Three electric motors produce a combined 1,016 horsepower. That allows the EV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in around 3.1 seconds. The battery is expected to provide a range of 644 km, and just 13 minutes of fast charging with a 350-kW charger provides enough power for another 200 miles. In just 22 minutes, the battery can be back to 80 percent.
The starting price is £130,000, or approximately $172,000. Preorders are expected to open in early 2027, with deliveries scheduled for the second half of 2027.
