Intel has announced a big update for its upscaling technology, XeSS 2, for its existing Arc A-series cards and the newly launched Arc B570 and Arc B580 graphics cards. The update finally brings its feature set to parity with competing offerings from AMD and Nvidia.
Like DLSS 3 and FSR 3, XeSS 2 is now capable of AI-powered frame generation, a feature that can predict and insert new frames between existing ones to improve frame rates. The other new feature is similar to Nvidia's Reflex, called XeLL, which reduces latency by adjusting the timing of frame rendering to keep the CPU and GPU aligned.

Intel says XeLL will be required by default since frame generation increases latency. XeSS 2 can improve performance by up to 3.9x in supported games, while XeLL can improve responsiveness by 45% at 1440p resolutions.
At launch, XeSS 2 will support ten games, including Assassins Creed Shadows, Dying Light 2, Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, Robocop: Rogue City, and more.
