Intel NUC Extreme with 13th gen Intel "Raptor Lake" CPUs reportedly launching this year alongside a new NUC Extreme Compute Element
After releasing the powerful NUC 12 Dragon Canyon with 12th gen “Alder Lake” CPUs earlier this year, Intel is reportedly preparing the next-generation NUCs with the upcoming 13th gen “Raptor Lake” processors. The information comes to us courtesy of user Lukedriftwood who posted an alleged roadmap of Intel’s NUC desktop kits on Reddit.
According to the roadmap, the Intel NUC Extreme codenamed “Raptor Canyon” will come with the “Next Gen” Core i9K, i7K, and i5K chips. It is easy to see that the “Next Gen” here refers to the Intel's 13th gen Raptor Lake processors. The roadmap also mentions PCIe x16 and a 13.9 L volume chassis for the NUC 13 Extreme Raptor Canyon. It is interesting to note that the 13.9 L volume is a significant increase over the 8 L of the NUC 12 Dragon Canyon. VideoCardz speculates that the increase in volume may be meant for upcoming GPUs.
Alongside the NUC 13 Extreme Raptor Canyon, the roadmap also mentions “Shrike Bay” a 13th gen NUC Extreme Compute Element. The Shrike Bay Compute Element will allegedly come with “Next Gen” or 13th gen Intel Core i9K/KF, i7K/KF, and i5K/KF CPUs.
If the roadmap is legit, both the NUC 13 Extreme Raptor Canyon and the Shrike Bay Compute Element will break cover in Q4 2022.
In addition to the NUC roadmap, we also have an alleged “Marketing Schedule”. We previously reported about the refreshed NUC X15 “Alder County” Laptop Kits with discreet Intel Arc A550M and Intel Arc A730M GPUs that were supposed to come out in Q2 2022. The leaked marketing schedule also mentions the Q2 2022 date for the Alder County kits. Q2 has come and gone without any sign of the NUC X15. So it remains to be seen when Intel plans to launch the NUC X15 Alder County kits.
