Intel Core Ultra 7 255H: Arrow Lake laptop CPU offers double-digit performance uplift over Meteor Lake counterpart in Geekbench

Yesterday, we got a glimpse at the Core Ultra 5 225H on Geekbench. While it offers a respectable performance uplift over its Meteor Lake-based counterpart (Core Ultra 5 125H), it was understandably slower than AMD's Strix Point offerings. Now, its more powerful sibling, the Core Ultra 7 255H has shown up on the benchmarking platform.

Specs-wise, the Core Ultra 7 255H comes with 6 Lion Cove P-cores and 10 Crestmont E-cores. Geekbench says the CPU can boost up to 5.1 GHz. However, this sample seems to have a hard time maintaining that frequency. We saw this behavior earlier with the Core Ultra 9 285H, indicating Intel still needs to iron out some kinks with Arrow Lake-H.

It scores 2,754 points in Geekbench's single-core test, where it is 14% faster than the Core Ultra 7 155H and just about as fast as the Lunar Lake-based Core Ultra 7 258V. Similarly, the Core Ultra 5 255H trades blows with AMD's Ryzen AI 9 365, which scored 2,797 points in the same benchmark.

In multi-core, the Core Ultra 7 255H scores 15,040 points. Here it is 22% faster than the Core Ultra 7 155H and 12% faster than the Ryzen AI 9 365. Both figures are impressive, given the lack of hyperthreading. We'll get to see it in action alongside their Arrow Lake-HX and Arrow Lake-U counterparts at CES 2025.
