Some of the highlights for the 10th gen Intel Core desktop CPUs include improved Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 with up to 5.3 GHz boost clocks, DDR4-2933 support, new Intel 400-series chipset and 2.5 GbE speeds. Note that the listed prices are only the wholesale ones, so expect retail prices to be at least US$100 higher.

All the presentation slides for the official Comet Lake-S April 30 announcement have already been leaked by the folks over at HD Technologia, complete with recommended customer prices (RCP). We compared the RCPs from the new slides with the Coffee Lake-R RCPs for the 9th gen CPUs launched in October 2018 and they appear to be the same. Also, note that these prices are only for tray CPUs bought in 1,000-unit quantities, which are usually lower by US$100 compared to retail box packages, and this applies to the U.S solely. Other regions need to add VAT and other taxes, leading to even higher prices.

The highlights for the 10th gen Intel Core desktop CPU family include:

  • Up to 5.3 GHz clocks with Intel Thermal Velocity Boost (superrefined 14 nm microarchitecture)
  • Improved Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0
  • Hyperthreading is now featured on i3 models all the way up to i9
  • The i9 flagships now integrate 10 cores and 20 threads with 20 MB Intel Smart Cache
  • Up to DDR4-2933 support
  • New Intel 400-series chipset
  • Support for 2.5 GbE speeds via Intel Ethernet Connection I225 (Foxville)

Intel further details some of the new features. The refreshed Intel Extreme Tuning Utility now allows users to disable/enable the HT function on a per core basis, plus it adds functions such as PEG/DMI OC and enhanced voltage / frequency curve controls. Additionally, all Comet Lake-S CPUs come with thinner dies and thicker IHS for improved thermal performance. As far as iGPUs are concerned, all the Core models (excepting F-series) now feature the Intel UHD Graphics 630 chip, while the Celeron/Pentium CPUs get the HD Graphics 610 iGPUs and only support DDR4-2666 RAM. Also, as expected, the new 400-series chipset only supports PCIe 3.0 via 40 platform lanes.
