A Linux patch has revealed an important detail about Intel's Arrow Lake-H CPUs. It will come with Lion Cove, Skymont and Crestmont cores in one package.

Lunar Lake won't be Intel's only laptop chip to hit shelves in the coming weeks. While it be the first to show up on September 3, Arrow Lake-based CPUs are expected to follow suit. Unlike Lunar Lake, they'll stick to the tried and tested H, HX and U SKUs found on previous generation. Arrow Lake-H, in particular, could come with an interesting mix of CPU cores. In the latest Linux PMU (Performance Monitoring Update) changelog, Phoronix spotted the following:

Arrow Lake-H is a specific variant of regular Arrow Lake. It shares same PMU features on Lion Cove P-cores and Skymont E-cores with regular Arrow Lake except Arrow Lake-H adds extra Crestmont E-cores

It will be the first Intel CPU to mix and match three different CPU cores. Lion Cove and Skymont are understandable, as they're new IP. Exactly what purpose Crestmont serves is uncertain, but it likely heralds the return of Meteor Lake's low-power island. Arrow Lake-HX is earmarked for high-performance laptops and won't need them and Arrow Lake-U is tipped to be a Raptor Lake refresh, so the possibility of it coming with Crestmont cores is low.
