Innovative smart home control to suit your home: Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus, Touchscreen Dial V1 and Display Switch V1

Aqara has recently launched three new products all to do with controlling a smart home: The Panel Hub S1 Plus EU, Touchscreen Dial V1 EU and the Display Switch V1 EU. How do these products differ from one another and which one is suitable for what? We have compared them all.

A smart home can be controlled in many different ways. Oftentimes, this comes in the shape of sensors, automations, smartphone apps as well as voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, who can switch lights on and off or adjust the room temperature as needed.

Even so, you shouldn't underestimate the classic lightswitch or wall panel—at least if it's a smart model. After all, it's often easier, more comfortable and more intuitive to quickly press a button on a switch or touch panel on your wall than to first get out your smartphone or initiate a voice command.

Aqara has recently launched three new products that make operating a smart home even easier and more intuitive. Today, we'll be comparing the three new innovations that go by the names Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus EU, Touchscreen Dial V1 EU and Display Switch V1 EU—plus, we'll find out which product is perfect for what.

Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus EU: The all-in-one smart home panel

The Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus EU (available on Amazon) is the most comprehensive solution among the three new products from the well-known manufacturer. It combines a touchscreen for operating a smart home with a smart home control center.

This is a high-quality control panel that can be installed into your wall and enables seamless and centralized control of an entire smart home. The 6.9-inch touchscreen surface with a resolution of 1,440 x 720 pixels enables intuitive operation of the individual components without having to reach for your smartphone.

The Panel Hub S1 Plus EU replaces a conventional light switch and is wired so that it can directly control and automate up to two lights. Up to six customizable wireless push-buttons with Matter compatibility expand its possibilities enormously. The panel also functions as an intercom for an Aqara doorbell, for example, or can play back live image from Aqara security cameras. The screen activates automatically when approached.

The hub also works using dual-band Wi-Fi and Zigbee and is a Matter Bridge, allowing a variety of smart home devices to be connected to the hub. These include security cameras, smart door locks, lights, roller shutters and much more. Power consumption measurement is additionally integrated into the device.

In short, the Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus EU is a particularly versatile way to set up and control your own smart home.

Aqara Touchscreen Dial V1 EU: A touchscreen and dial on a wall switch

The Aqara Touchscreen Dial V1 EU (available on Amazon) replaces and extends a classic flush-mounted light switch with a neutral conductor. The intelligent panel switch is equipped with a rotary knob with haptic feedback and a 1.32-inch touchscreen, making it easy and intuitive to use.

The new wall switch from Aqara can be used to control up to two lights directly and automatically. The device also features six wireless buttons for device and scene control. These are configured via Aqara and other third-party services.

Thanks to integrated dual-band Wi-Fi, the new Touchscreen Dial V1 EU from Aqara doesn't require a hub and instead works directly with platforms such as Alexa, Apple Home, Google Home and Home Assistant. Those who use Aqara Home can benefit from even more options. This includes up to 18 widgets, for example to dim lights and change the color temperature, open and close curtains or control a thermostat.

Thanks to its proximity sensor, the touchscreen is automatically activated when a person approaches the Aqara Touchscreen Dial V1 EU. As an additional highlight, Aqara has installed a temperature and humidity sensor to monitor your room's climate.

Aqara Display Switch V1 EU: A smart wall switch with a display

Another new option from Aqara that turns a classic light switch into a smart one is the Display Switch V1 EU (available on Amazon). This is a 2-channel smart switch with a neutral conductor that replaces a "dumb" flush-mounted switch. The new solution can be used to switch up to two wired lights with its four buttons. Wireless buttons also provide access to scene and device control.

The Aqara Display Switch V1 EU has a 2.08-inch LCD screen. This displays additional information, such as the time or user-defined labels for the buttons. To reduce power consumption, the display is also activated via a proximity sensor.

The Display Switch V1 EU is based on the Zigbee protocol, supports Matter over Bridge and can be integrated into platforms such as Alexa, Apple Home, Google Home and SmartThings. The switch also monitors the connected lights' power consumption and supports MARS technology.
