Although the M1771-2 cuts some corners with its parts and peripherals, its large screen and super-svelte form factor make it fairly priced at $1,860. It’s not a perfect laptop by any means, but if you want a portable gaming laptop with a large screen that doesn’t break the bank, you won’t find a better option at the moment.

What we're left with is confirmation that the idea of a thin and light gaming notebook is a sound one and an excellent, more affordable alternative to Razer's notebooks. If you put the Blade Pro and GS70 in front of me and asked me to choose, I'd actually be more liable to take MSI's offering.

The iBuypower Battalion Ultra-Thin M1771 is a large-screen, power user's laptop. It is capable of multimedia creation, as well as 3D Gaming. It's the portable equivalent to the high end multimedia dream machines we used to price out at over $3,000 ten years ago.

The iBuypower Battalion Ultra-Thin M1771 has a larger 17-inch screen, but it doesn't otherwise outperform more portable rivals like the Razer Blade (2013) and Digital Storm Veloce on our benchmark tests. If you just need a large-screen gaming laptop, then you can give up multimedia power and step down to the entry-level MSI GX70 3Be-007US as your large-screen gaming rig. As an all-around performance machine, the iBuypower Battalion Ultra-Thin M1771 is jack-of-all-trades system that will make you pay for all the things it can do, and comes recommended. However, if you're willing to make a few tradeoffs and focus your needs, there are less expensive choices out there.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M:
High-End Graphics cards as part of the Geforce 700M series based on the Kepler architecture.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
4700HQ: Haswell-based quad-core processor clocked at 2.4 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.4 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4600 GPU and a dual channel DDR3 memory controller.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
17.30": This display size is a standard format for desktop replacements (DTR). The DTR laptops are heavier to carry, need more power, but texts are easy to read and high resolutions are no problem. DTR are mainly intended for stationary desk use, where weight and energy hunger don't matter. In return, you enjoy the advantages of high resolutions (more details, better legibility).» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
2.7 kg:
With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.
Ibuypower: iBUYPOWER Computer is a enterprise located in Southern California. The product lines include gaming desktops, gaming notebooks, workstations, media center PCs, peripherals, and multimedia products. The global market share according laptops is low.
80%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
