Huawei are on a high, as recent sales figures from analytical firm IDC has put the Chinese OEM at third in the rankings of smartphone manufacturers in the world, with the gap between it and Apple diminishing steadily. At the moment, Apple has a 2.4% market share over Huawei, a figure that's considerably more impressive when you consider Apple's dominance in the US market. Huawei are set to make amends, though, with the company about to reach an agreement with AT&T, in a move that will improve Huawei's market share in the US.
The deal will see the American telecommunications giant sell Huawei smartphones, with the first device to benefit from it being the upcoming Mate 10. Huawei has made similar attempts in the past but Congress misgivings towards the data security of American users made the deal fall through.
Hopefully, this time there's a positive conclusion, as the industry benefits from competition.
