Huawei is now selling an updated version of the MateBook D 14 SE. This year, the company has not only upgraded the laptop to the Intel Raptor Lake architecture, but it has also included a more modern 16:10 display and twice the amount of RAM found in its predecessor.

Huawei has quietly refreshed the MateBook D 14 SE, following an equivalent upgrade to Intel Alder Lake processors last year. As far as we can tell, Huawei has improved the MateBook D 14 SE in a few areas, rather than just including a new processor. The laptop's overall design remains unchanged though, save for a small lip that protrudes around its webcam and microphone.

On the one hand, Huawei has equipped the latest MateBook D 14 SE with a 16:10 display that resolves at 1,920 x 1200 pixels. The IPS panel still measures 14-inches across, but offers 300 nits peak brightness. On the other hand, Huawei has based the new model around a Core i5-13420H processor, eschewing the Core i5-1235U from its predecessor. While we have not reviewed any Core i5-13420H-powered machines yet, it should be slightly more powerful than the Core i5-1235U but with a 45 W TDP instead of 15 W.

Elsewhere, Huawei has included 16 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and a 512 GB SSD. For some reason, Huawei has moved the 3.5 mm jack to the opposite side this year, although the port selection appears unchanged overall. Likewise, the MateBook D 14 SE still has a 56 Wh battery that supports 65 W charging. The new MateBook D 14 SE is available for CNY 4,199 (~US$574) in China but is currently on sale at CNY 3,999 (~US$547). Huawei has not commented on a global release yet, though.
