For about 200 Euros, your choices of decently powerful smartphones aren't exactly wide. The new Honor 5C, however, is a standout model in this price range for its aluminum case, scratch-resistant back, dual SIM and LTE capabilities, FHD panel, and 13 MP rear camera with a wide-angle lens. The in-house HiSilicon Kirin 650 SoC should also grant it fast performance with low power consumption.
Additionally, Huawei is promising that the Honor 5C can survive a fall of up to half a meter without major damage and a safe operating temperature from as low as -40 C up to 70 C.
Huawei CEO of Western Europe Akin Li likens the new Honor 5C to a smartphone "reduced to its essentials". It remains to be seen how well the device can perform in the a market segment where auxiliary features like extra-large batteries or pen inputs are becoming more common to differentiate them from more standard smartphones like the Honor 5C.
