HackberryPi: New Raspberry Pi project transforms popular SBC into Cyberdeck and retro gaming handheld
There are plenty of Raspberry Pi-inspired Cyberdecks around now, including options like the Decktility. For reference, the term 'Cyberdeck' dates as far back as the early 1980s thanks to the works of William Gibson. However, it seems that the release of Cyberpunk 2077 at the start of the decade has somewhat reignited the Cyberdeck as a project idea.
To that end, maker ZitaoTech has created two Cyberdeck examples called the HackberryPi using Raspberry Pi Zero 2W (curr. $25.99 on Amazon) single-board computers (SBCs). As Hackster.io notes, Zitao only distinguishes the pair through their keyboards. Specifically, while one uses the BlackBerry Q10, the other uses the BlackBerry Q20 instead.
Elsewhere, both Cyberdecks utilise a 4-inch TFT panel that outputs at 720 x 720 pixels, as well as a 3D-printed shell, a USB expansion hub and two Nokia BL-5C batteries. As the video below shows, the devices run Raspberry Pi OS, although Kali Linux and RetroPi would also be supported. Currently, both HackberryPi units are sold out on Tindie, where they were available for approximately $125. ZitaoTech has published all the files necessary to create a HackberryPi yourself though; please see the maker's accompanying GitHub post for further details.
