HTC has announced festive Gold and Garnet colors for the One A9 with availability in Germany and Austria starting December 15. Switzerland will also receive the new color options, but will have to wait until early 2016. The One A9 originally launched in just Gray and Silver colors, so the new colors are definitely welcomed.
The HTC smartphone retails for just under 580 Euros across most regions in Europe. In the U.S., the smartphone is available through Verizon for $550 USD. In our review of the device, the One A9 proved to be a great smartphone with excellent build quality and an impressive AMOLED display. Its camera, battery life, and high launch price of 600 Euros are a few of its biggest setbacks.
Before the reveal and launch of the One A9, analysts were branding the smartphone as a "savior" for the falling Taiwanese company. Unfortunately, the smartphone launched to little fanfare and carried no real competitive edge to separate itself from competitors. It is unlikely that a few extra colors could tip the scale enough to put HTC back in the black.
