Google's Jarvis AI accidentally leaked via Chrome web store
Google accidentally leaked a prototype of its upcoming Jarvis AI via the Chrome web store. The listing for a Chrome extension promised "a helpful companion that surfs the web for you.”
The Information (via Engadget) reported that the listing was supposed to be for an internal test pilot but was accidentally published online.
Jarvis is an acronym for Tony Stark's AI assistant from the Iron Man movies. It stands for Just Another Very Intelligent System. And like the Iron Man movies, it is supposed to be an agentic AI, i.e., an autonomous system that needs little or no human input to perform tasks.
Google's Jarvis can reportedly take control of web browsers on a user's behalf and automate mundane tasks such as filling out forms or booking movie tickets. The company will look to alleviate privacy concerns by limiting the agent's access to web browsers. Users will control how they interact with the agent and what they allow it to do.
