Gionee unveils Marathon M5 mini
Gionee has just released the more compact version of the Marathon M5 smartphone (also known as the M5), dubbed Gionee M5 Mini. It’s very similar to the recently released M5 Lite model but comes equipped with less RAM and storage space (2 GB / 16 GB versus 3 GB / 32 GB).
The most prominent feature of the new handset is the generous battery capacity of 4,000 mAh. According to the Chinese manufacturer, it should last up to 18 hours of talk time, 22 hours of audio playback or 2 days of standby time. The battery is not removable.
Other than that, the M5 Mini is a regular mid-ranger, with quad-core MediaTek MT6580 processor clocked at 1.3 GHz and the mentioned 2 GB of RAM under the hood which should provide enough power to smoothly run the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with Amigo 3.1 UI on top. The 5-inch display offers 1280 x 720 pixels resolution and the 16 GB of storage can be expanded up to 128 GB via the built-in micro-SD card reader.
On the camera front, there’s an 8 MP main unit with LED flash as well as a 5 MP selfie shooter. Connectivity options include GPS, Bluetooth, 3G and Wi-Fi. The handset does not support LTE.
