Gemini Lake Refresh - New entry-level CPUs from Intel
The new Pentium and Celeron SoCs (System on a Chip) still integrate two or four Goldmont Plus processor cores that are now clocked at up to 3.1 GHz (in the Pentium Silver N5030 top model). The dual-channel memory controller is still limited to 2400 MHz (DDR4 and LPDDR4) and also the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 600 / 605 graphics card is unchanged. That means that the new CPUs will still offer just limited performance that is only suited for light office and web usage. If paired with a low amount of memory and slow HDD or eMMC drives, the systems will especially feel rather slow.
In addition to the mobile CPUs (which will be most likely found in low-end laptops and tablets), Intel also refreshed three desktop CPUs (Pentium J5040, Celeron J4125, and J4025) with 100 MHz higher clock speed than their mobile counterparts and higher TDPs.
