The Gateway ID58 sells for a street price of Rs. 50,127. However, for what is being offered at this price, other laptop manufacturers will give you more. For example, you can get a slightly chubby but meaty Dell Studio 15 with Intel's newer Core i5-430M processor, full HD (1920 x 1080 pixel) display and ATI Radeon HD 4570 graphics.
We liked the Gateway ID58 for its comfortable keyboard, cool design and thoughtful feature set. It would be a good pick for someone looking for a big-screened notebook for productivity, but only if its price is lowered by least six-seven thousand rupees.

We recall that a handful of PC consumers don't seem to have a very positive impression of Gateway's merchandise back in the heydays when it was still very much Americanized. In fact, we're quite accustomed to hearing comments like "Oh, it's a Gateway" followed by a wry smile and a wink. However, Gateway, or should we say Acer, seems to have turned things around with a viable notebook like we've seen in the ID5805g. And yes, it is made even more attractive by its affordable S$1,988 asking price as well. The ID5805g might not pack a Full HD capable screen, but we've tested and confirmed that high definition files would not daunt this unit if you're keen to buy one for HD playback. If you aren't too finicky, we'd have to say that its 15.6-inch screen is more than enough to enjoy a decent movie.

Unless WiMAX is a must for you, the Gateway ID47H07u offers a ton of features in a handsome, highly portable chassis for a pleasingly low price. Its bid to topple the Dell Inspiron 14z (Core i5) for Editors' Choice honors is thwarted only by our subjective impressions of its keyboard and touchpad, plus the Dell's backlit keyboard and removable battery.

Battery life is above average in our tests as we were able to get about 7 to 7.5-hours of juice out of it while the category average is about 5.5 to 6 hours.

The updates to the Gateway ID47H07u made a good notebook even better. This classy 14-inch system has even more power and endurance than before, and its Dolby-powered speakers are also top-notch. However, the glossy touchpad isn't for everyone. We prefer the HP dm4t, which has a better touchpad, fingerprint reader, and a larger hard drive for $50 less. But if you want Core i5 power, all-day endurance, and a sleek design at a reasonable price, this Gateway laptop is a good deal.

Gateway: Gateway, Incorporated. is a computer hardware company based in California which develops, manufactures, supports, and markets a wide range of personal computers, computer monitors, servers, and computer accessories. AOL acquired Gateway.net, the online component of Gateway Inc., in 1999. 2007, Acer completed its acquisition of Gateway for approximately US$710 million. The market share outside of the US market is rather low.
In 2014 to 2016, Gateway did no longer belong to the Top 10 laptop manufacturers/distributors. Newer devices from Gateway are hardly reviewed by specialist media any longer (as of 2016).
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.
NVIDIA GeForce G 105M: Higher clocked 9300M GS and therefore a bit faster. Still manufactured in 65nm. Supports Hybrid-SLI with HybridPower and GeForceBoost (in conjunction with the right Nvidia chipset).
Intel HD Graphics 3000: Integrated graphics card in the Intel Sandy Bridge processors (Core ix-2xxx). The HD 3000 is the faster (internally GT2 called) version with 12 Execution Units (EUs).

Intel Core 2 Duo: This is the Core Duo and Core Solo successor with a longer pipeline and 5-20% more speed without more power consumption. As an addition to the Core Duo design there exists a fourth decoder, an amplified SSE-unit and an additional arithmetical logical unit (ALU).
The Core 2 Duo for laptops is identical to the desktop Core 2 Duo processors but the notebook-processors work with lower voltages (0.95 to 1188 Volt) and a lower Frontside bus clock (1066 vs 667 MHz). The performance of equally clocked notebooks is 20-25% lower than Desktop PCs because of the lower Frontside bus clock and the slower hard disks.
P8700:
Mid-range dual core processor with 3 MB level 3 cache and a TDP of 25 Watt.
Intel Core i5:
2430M: Dual-core processor based on the Sandy Bridge architecture with an integrated graphics card and dual-channel DDR3 memory controller. The CPU is clocked at 2.4 GHz (Turbo Boost 2.7-3 GHz) and the GPU at 650 (1200 MHz Turbo).

14.00:
14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.

2.1 kg:
3 kg:
With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.
80%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
