Reviews for the Gateway FX P-7805u
Source: Notebookreview.com

The Gateway P-7805u FX is a very competent gaming notebook, capable of playing modern games at good frame rates and gets impressive battery life under light activity. Compared to when we last saw this series of notebook it has received a slightly better graphics card with double the video memory and larger hard drive, while still managing to drop in price by $100. Overall for the price it is hard to pass up this notebook if you are in the market for a gaming rig below $1,500.

Gateway's budget-minded 17-inch gaming laptops have impressed, offering a mix of decent components and high-end video cards for around $1,200. The most recent version, the P-7811 FX, was the best of the bunch, bumping the screen resolution up to 1,900x1,200 while only marginally raising the price. Our favorite budget gaming laptop returns as the Gateway P-7805u FX, and while it's still the best deal going in mobile gaming, we're bummed the screen resolution has been dumbed down to sub-HD levels.

NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTS:
Based on the desktop 9600 GT (G94 core), the 9800M GTS is produced in 65 nm and 55 nm on the 512 MB and 1024 MB models, respectively. The performance of the GTS is comparable to the GT version due to the higher clock speed. The PureVideo HD engine allows the GPU to decode HD videos.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel Core 2 Duo: This is the Core Duo and Core Solo successor with a longer pipeline and 5-20% more speed without more power consumption. As an addition to the Core Duo design there exists a fourth decoder, an amplified SSE-unit and an additional arithmetical logical unit (ALU).
The Core 2 Duo for laptops is identical to the desktop Core 2 Duo processors but the notebook-processors work with lower voltages (0.95 to 1188 Volt) and a lower Frontside bus clock (1066 vs 667 MHz). The performance of equally clocked notebooks is 20-25% lower than Desktop PCs because of the lower Frontside bus clock and the slower hard disks.
P8400:
Middle class dual core CPU with a TDP of 25 Watt. For high end gamer the performance could be not sufficient (for class 1 graphic cards).

15-16 inch is a standard display size for laptops and offers the biggest variety of products.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.4.1 kg:
In former years, this weight was representative for laptops with a 14-16 inch display-diagonal. Nowadays, 17 inch laptops weigh less than that.
Gateway: Gateway, Incorporated. is a computer hardware company based in California which develops, manufactures, supports, and markets a wide range of personal computers, computer monitors, servers, and computer accessories. AOL acquired Gateway.net, the online component of Gateway Inc., in 1999. 2007, Acer completed its acquisition of Gateway for approximately US$710 million. The market share outside of the US market is rather low.
In 2014 to 2016, Gateway did no longer belong to the Top 10 laptop manufacturers/distributors. Newer devices from Gateway are hardly reviewed by specialist media any longer (as of 2016).
80%: This rating is not convincing. The laptop is evaluated below average, this is not really a recommendation for purchase.
