Garmin has issued a software update for the Fēnix 7 and Epix smartwatches, Beta version 9.28. Since the last Alpha release, version 9.27, Garmin has enabled users in China to view stocks. Several issues have also been remedied, such as the inability to edit a sleep or wake time and UI problems in the HRV Status glance. The company also claims to have improved the Daily Suggested Workout plan overview.
If you are signed up for Garmin’s Public Beta program, the update will be automatically pushed to your smartwatch via Garmin Connect. Garmin notes that the Connect app will automatically check for the update every 24 hours and that it may take several hours to transfer and install the update to your watch. The company has also asked the users to ensure they have the latest secure_config files installed, updated on May 25, before they load the new Beta software.
This update means that over 60 features and settings have been added to the Fēnix 7 and Epix smartwatches since v8.37, including SatIQ support, a Reference Point app and a Cycling Ability feature. You can view the full release notes here. Garmin’s Beta Program is a way for smartwatch users to try out new features before a general release while the company is still testing them. You can sign up for the Beta Program via Garmin Connect.
