Free horror game demo inspired by Silent Hill and Resident Evil now on Steam

Fans of classic survival horror may be interested in INANIMA, an upcoming indie horror game inspired by the likes of Silent Hill and Resident Evil that is now playable as a free demo. Developed and published by Obscure Tales, the project serves as a follow-up to the studio's 2021 release, Lamentum. Both titles also share the same fictional universe, with the developer describing them as two interconnected stories.
INANIMA's gameplay uses retro-inspired pixel-art complemented by dynamic lighting, blending old-school visuals with modern effects. Players explore the isolated facilities of a mysterious corporation, searching for limited supplies and battling hostile creatures while uncovering the secrets of the 'Lazarus Project'. Combat supports both melee and ranged weapons, with enemies featuring individual behaviors and destructible limbs. Shooting an opponent in the leg, for instance, can slow it down, creating an opportunity to escape. Light and sound also influence enemy behavior.
Early Steam reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, with the demo currently holding a 100% positive rating from 30 users. Players have praised its atmosphere, presentation and gameplay. Unfortunately, there is no confirmed release date for the full game yet. In the meantime, PC players can download the demo for free via Steam and wishlist INANIMA to receive updates on its eventual launch.
