Framework has announced pre-orders for the Laptop 12, its first 2-in-1 laptop with a touchscreen. The manufacturer had announced on April 9 that the laptop was available to pre-order in Canada, Europe, and the UK, leaving the US. However, a follow-up announcement has revealed pre-order details for the US.
Pre-orders for the Framework Laptop 12 will open at 9 AM PT on April 10 in the US, with a starting price of $549 for the DIY edition. In comparison, the Laptop 12 starts at €569 in Europe, CA$719 in Canada, and £499 in the UK. Just like in the other regions, the first batch of shipments are scheduled for June.
The Framework Laptop 12 is touted as an entry-level laptop with a 12.2-inch 1920 x 1200 touchscreen display with support for MPP 2.0 and USI 2.0 stylus. It has a 360-degree hinge that allows it to be folded back completely and used like a tablet or propped up in tent mode. Featuring a TPU and plastic case and a metal chassis, Framework says the Laptop 12 is designed to meet MIL-STD-810 durability standards

Framework will offer the Laptop 12 in a base model with an Intel Core i3-1315U processor and a performance model with an Intel Core i5-1334U processor. The pre-built version of the base model will have 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage while the performance model will have double the RAM but the same storage. Both pre-built models will ship with Windows 11 Home but the DIY edition doesn't ship with an OS.
The RAM is upgradeable up to 48GB while the storage can be upgraded up to 2TB (M2. 2230 NVMe SSD). The Framework Laptop 12 will also have 4 user-selectable expansion cards. Other features are Wi-Fi 6E, stereo 2W speakers, a 3.5mm combo jack, a 2MP 1080p OmniVision camera with a privacy switch, a 50Wh battery with a 60W GaN USB-C charger in the box.
The Framework Laptop 12 will be available in Black, Bubblegum, Gray, Lavender, and Sage.
