First images of Sony Xperia C6 phablet appear online
The leaked images show a very narrow bezel that reminds us of the 5-inch Sharp Aquos Crystal and its edge-free design. Thus, the dimensions of the C6 phablet should be quite small despite the large 6-inch display. Technical details are otherwise scarce as the Sony Xperia C6 phablet is expected to carry a MediaTek SoC with dual-SIM capabilities and support for at least 10 different LTE bands.
The source also makes note of the large front-facing camera and adjacent LED Flash in addition to the usual rear-facing camera and LED Flash. Sony may be marketing the phone with an emphasis on high quality selfies as one of its features.
Before Mobile World Congress 2016, the public was expecting a direct successor to the Xperia C5 Ultra. Instead, Sony unveiled the flagship Xperia X series to replace the underrated Xperia Z series. The Japanese manufacturer has had limited success in the smartphone business according to its latest financial results, but only recently announced additional smartphone manufacturing plants in Thailand and a more streamlined portfolio. Like the upcoming HTC 10, Sony will likely be keeping a very close eye on the sales performance of the Xperia X series before deciding to tread further in the crowded smartphone market.
