FiiO R9: HiFi streaming solution with numerous possibilities launches with Android and HDMI ARC
FiiO is now probably well known among customers for its audio products and has just presented a new solution for media playback in the R9, which is marketed as an all-in-one solution that promises a particularly wide range of functions.
At the heart of the R9 are two ES9038Pro DAC chips, plus a THX788+ chip for the amplifier. There are 4.4-millimeter and 6.35-millimeter outputs for connecting headphones, and XLR is also available for connecting other audio devices. The maximum output power is specified as up to 7 watts. The R9 sound solution itself can receive image signals via HDMI ARC, USB and coaxial cable.
A Bluetooth connection is also possible via a corresponding chip from Qualcomm; supported standards include LDAC, aptX HD, AptX, SBC and AAA. An XMOS XU316 USB port is also installed. Operation is said to be particularly easy: buttons are provided for the most important parameters. The screen measures 6 inches diagonally, has a resolution of 1080 x 2160, and is said to be particularly bright. LED lighting is also available.
The 160 x 115 x 127 mm system weighs just under 2.4 kg and runs on Android 10. According to the manufacturer, the operating system can be upgraded and access to the Play Store is possible.
The audio device is directly from the manufacturer at a price of $1449. Potential buyers should inform themselves about shipping costs and possible import duties.
