Samsung Exynos 1280 vs MediaTek Dimensity 800 vs MediaTek Dimensity 800U
Samsung Exynos 1280
► remove from comparison
The Samsung Exynos 1280 is a midrange system on a chip (SoC) for smartphones and tablets. It was announced in early 2022 and is used in the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G. The CPU part integrates two clusters, a performance cluster with two ARM Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 2.4 GHz and an efficiency cluster with six small ARM Cortex-A55 cores at up to 2 GHz. The integrated memory controller supports LPDDR4x.
Furthermore, the chip integrates an ISP for cameras with up to 108 MPixel. The integrated ARM Mali G68 MC4 supports displays with up to 1080p and 120Hz.
One of the main features is the integrated 5G modem that supports Sub-6GHz (2550/1280 Mbps), mmWave (1840/920 Mbps), and LTE Cat 18 (1200/200 Mbps). WiFi 5 is the highest supported standard, as is Bluetooth 5.2.
The SoC is manufactured in the modern 5nm process at Samsung.
MediaTek Dimensity 800
► remove from comparison
The Mediatek Dimensity 800 is a fast mid-range SoC with an integrated 5G modem. It includes four fast ARM Cortex-A76 cores at up to 2 GHz and four power efficient Cortex-A55 cores at up to 2 GHz (Octa-Core with Heterogeneous Multi-Processing). Furthermore, the chip integrates a 4 core ARM Mali-G57 MC4 GPU, a Wi-fi 5 modem, a LPDDR4x memory controller(up to 16 GB with 2133 MHz), a AI processing unit (APU 3.0) and video de- and encoding.
Compared to the similar named Dimensity 800U, the 800 offers two more big A76 cores but clocked 400 MHz lower. This means the single core performance is lower, but the multi-core performance can be better.
The Dimensity 800 is manufactured in the modern 7nm process and should be very power efficient.
MediaTek Dimensity 800U
► remove from comparison
The Mediatek Dimensity 800U is a fast mid-range SoC with an integrated 5G modem. It includes two fast ARM Cortex-A76 cores at up to 2.4 GHz and six power efficient Cortex-A55 cores at up to 2 GHz (Octa-Core with Heterogeneous Multi-Processing). Furthermore, the chip integrates a 3 core ARM Mali-G57 MC3 GPU, a Wi-fi 5 modem, a LPDDR4x memory controller, a AI processing unit (APU 3.0) and video de- and encoding.
Compared to the Dimensity 820, the 800U offers lower clocked A76 cores and a slower GPU.
The Dimensity 800U is manufactured in the modern 7nm process and should be very power efficient.
