There are undoubtedly some clear advantages to OLED TVs, but not everyone wishes to wrestle with the twin troubles of panel burn-in and somewhat low brightness. For such people, mini LED TVs are an excellent alternative. Sony's 65-inch Bravia X93L is one such product, which has received predominantly favorable reviews from critics and is now available for its lowest price ever on Walmart's website, at just $1,098.
According to RTINGS' comprehensive review of the Bravia X93L, the TV performs admirably well in most scenarios. The mini LED panel sports 420 dimming zones, allowing for excellent contrast levels that far outshine typical LED screens, but fall short of OLED panels with pixel-level dimming. In terms of blooming, the X93L passes with flying colors, though customers might catch a touch of it in dark scenes with bright accents. Speaking of brightness, the Bravia X93L gets impressively bright, with a sustained brightness of 1,384 nits at a 25% window. The $200 more expensive LG C3, which uses an OLED panel, can pull off only a modest 470 nits in the same scenario.
Moving over to color gamut and accuracy, the Sony Bravia X93L leaves color enthusiasts with little to gripe about. Although there are pricier options on the market with better performance, this TV holds its own where it counts. That said, one area of the X93L that is genuinely disappointing is its viewing angles, which is to be expected considering that the TV utilizes a VA panel. For those who can live with it, the X93L is an otherwise excellent TV. Its 120 Hz refresh rate will also delight gamers, particularly those who wish to enjoy HDR gaming. At its current price, the Bravia X93L certainly brings commendable value to the table for those who prefer to sidestep OLEDs.
