Fans of tactical open-world shooters could score a real bargain in the Epic Games Store right now. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint is 90% off until April 9, bringing the price down to just $6.

In Ghost Recon Breakpoint, players are dropped into the fictional archipelago of Auroa, owned by the billion-dollar tech giant Skell Technology. The company is developing cutting-edge drones and artificial intelligence on the islands, but the tropical paradise quickly turns hostile. A rogue military unit known as the Wolves has seized control and is defending the region with advanced military technology. Players step into the boots of Nomad, an elite Ghost operative, tasked with infiltrating Auroa, taking down the Wolves and preventing Skell’s technology from falling into the wrong hands.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint blends tactical shooting with open-world exploration and light RPG mechanics. Players navigate the islands of Auroa and engage the Wolves in intense third-person combat. The game features a large selection of weapons and introduces a camouflage system that lets Nomad blend into the environment using mud, snow or tall grass. It also marked the series' first step into a full loot system, offering gear and weapons in varying quality levels – a change that drew criticism, especially from longtime fans. Alongside its co-op mode, Breakpoint includes PvP battles, where two teams of four face off in strategic firefights.

Solid gameplay struggling with identity

The German gaming magazine GameStar reviewed Ghost Recon Breakpoint at launch in October 2019, praising its tactical combat and varied open world. However, the review also pointed out that the game suffers from an identity crisis. The blend of survival elements and loot shooter mechanics felt unpolished and watered down the tactical gameplay the Ghost Recon series is known for. Because of these issues, GameStar gave it a score of 65 out of 100. In response to the criticism, developer Ubisoft later introduced "Immersive Mode," which lets players disable the loot system entirely for a more classic experience.

Since its release, Ghost Recon Breakpoint has gathered over 28,000 reviews on Steam, with 72% rated positive. On Metacritic, however, the reception has been far less favorable, with a Metascore of 58 and a User Score of just 3.0.

90% discount in the Epic Games Store

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is usually priced at around $60, but it's currently available in the Epic Games Store for just $6 thanks to a 90% discount – an offer valid until April 9. According to SteamDB, the game is often discounted to around $12 during sales, but a deal this low is rare. The last time it dropped to $6 was in February 2025, with the previous instance in June 2024.
