Eight AMD Radeon RX 6600 GPUs in one computer: Biostar unveils the iMiner 660MX8D2
Biostar has announced its newest prebuilt mining system, the iMiner 660MX8D2, which promises to deliver 248 MH/s of ETH mining capacity. The mining rig packs eight AMD Radeon RX 6600 GPUs, a Biostar branded B360 motherboard with support for multiple cards, 8 GB of DDR4 memory running at 2666 MHz, and a 120 GB SSD. The system runs on an Intel G4900 processor. The Intel G4900 is a 14 nm chip with two cores, two threads, and a base frequency of 3.10 GHz.
Finally, the Biostar iMiner 660MX8D2 has a 2000 W PSU to power the eight RX 6600 boards that it rocks.
Biostar’s newest mining rig makes an appearance a month after its iMiner A588X8D2, a cryptominer that has eight AMD Radeon RX 580 GPUs, delivering a total of 232 MH/s. So, the iMiner 660MX8D2 is 7% faster than the old model thanks to the RDNA2-based RX 6600 boards.
We are finally approaching market conditions where stock is plentiful and GPU prices are close to hitting MSRP. Some models of the AMD RX 6600, at the time of writing, are available for less than US$350 on retailers like Amazon. So, the release of a new cryptomining rig with a handful of really good gaming cards doesn’t sting as much as it did a few months ago.
