Edifier has officially unveiled the MR5 studio monitor speakers, and with this launch, they are adding a new high-spec option to its lineup of budget-friendly audio gear. The speakers were first made available on select storefronts on June 24, 2025, and went into wider launch starting July 1. Priced at $349.99 per pair, the MR5 is a three-way, tri-amped system that continues the company’s earlier MR4 monitor series.
The MR5 features a 5-inch woofer, 3.75-inch midrange driver, and 1-inch silk-dome tweeter - each powered by separate Class-D amps. This tri-amped configuration enables cleaner crossover transitions and better frequency control across the spectrum. Frequency response is listed as 46 Hz to 40 kHz, with a maximum SPL (Sound Pressure Level) of 101 dB at one meter.
Unlike the MR4, which is a two-way system, the MR5 separates its mid frequencies to avoid overlap between bass and treble. Combined with the larger driver sizes and increased total output power (110 W RMS per pair), the MR5 should be a great choice for a higher-tier option for home studios or nearfield listening setups that demand more headroom and clarity.
Connectivity sees an upgrade as well. Balanced XLR/TRS inputs, RCA/AUX, Bluetooth 6.0 with LDAC, and even a headphone output make the MR5 apt for different setups. Onboard tuning controls are complemented by app-based EQ customization via Edifier’s ConneX app, which should let users shape the sound to suit different rooms or mixes.
Despite its relatively compact build, each speaker weighs just over 5 kg. The product is certified for Hi-Res Audio, supporting up to 24-bit/96 kHz playback.
Compared to the MR4, the MR5 adds:
- A dedicated midrange driver
- Tri-amplification with active crossover
- Higher SPL and power output
- Advanced Bluetooth and app-based tuning
At this price point, competing models, such as the Kali Audio LP-6 V2 and Presonus Eris E5 XT, don't usually come with a tri-amped setup with this range of I/O. This makes the Edifier MR5 a neat choice over the aforementioned models.
