Drone photos reveal Cybertruck-shaped tunnel exit at Tesla's Giga Texas
Tesla has completed the digging stage of its Giga Texas tunnel, known as the Cybertunnel, and new drone photos of the exit section have emerged. According to images posted on X (formerly Twitter) by @JoeTegtmeyer, the tunnel's end will have the distinct shape of a Cybertruck. The photos show a black frame inspired by the futuristic-looking electric pickup truck.
The tunnel was dug by one of Elon Musk's ventures, The Boring Company (TBC). The work started in March using the Prufrock-3 boring machine, and workers can be seen completing the asphalt work. Last month, photos from another drone operator revealed that Tesla had already painted the tunnel's interior.
The Cybertunnel starts at the west side of the factory and runs underneath State Highway 130 (SH 130). It will connect the Cybertruck production line to the logistics site, where Tesla will ship the pickup trucks. Musk first talked about the tunnel in 2020.
Musk created TBC to construct underground transport tunnels to solve urban traffic congestion, which the billionaire described as soul-destroying. Other major projects by TBC include the Loop at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC). It transports delegates between various parts of the city, including the popular Strip and downtown areas. There are plans to introduce autonomous vehicles in the tunnels before the end of 2024.
