Diablo IV is now available on Steam. The game is on offer at a 25% discount until October 24, which means that the standard version now costs US$52.49, the Digital Deluxe Edition US$67.49 and the Ultimate Edition US$74.99.
The system requirements are relatively modest - Blizzard requires at least an Intel Core i5-2500K, a GeForce GTX 660 and 90 GB of storage space to be able to play the game smoothly in 720p resolution at low detail levels. Because of these low requirements, Valve was able to officially verify the game for the Steam Deck. As the following embedded video from Santiago Santiago shows, Diablo IV achieves an average of just over 50 frames per second on the Steam Deck at low to medium graphics settings at the native resolution of 1,280 x 800.

Diablo IV has already garnered over 1,000 user reviews on Steam, which Valve describes as "balanced" - but 48% negative reviews can hardly be called a success. Players complain mostly about in-game purchases that are sometimes far too expensive, empty game worlds, too little content in new seasons and Blizzard's unreliable servers.
Since the game can only be played with an active internet connection, game progress will be lost if the connection to the server is interrupted. The user rating on Metacritic is even worse at 2.8 out of a possible 10 points; players on this platform also complain about the lack of long-term motivation and numerous technical problems.
