There aren't many laptops under £ that can truly claim to do a desktop PCs job, but this is certainly one of them.

The Dell XPS 15 has managed to oust much of its competition in terms of value, especially in 4K media work and in spite of yet another poor webcam position and lackluster audio, earning it TechRadar’s Great Value award.

Though showing its age, Dell's XPS 15 is still the sleekest desktop replacement on the market, from its terrific 4K touch screen to its beefy six-core CPU. It's a great pick for everything from video editing to 1080p gaming.

Model: The Dell XPS 15 9570-CPC1J has the same great XPS design and build, slightly refined again for the modern laptop user. With the refresh of its XPS 15 line-up, Dell has brought a 15.6-inch laptop that manages to cram inside a ton of performance hardware without getting bulky or too heavy. It’s more powerful than ever before and can surprisingly last even longer on a single charge. Not much at all about the XPS 15 design identity has changed. The product still comes wrapped in an aluminium unibody shell with a carbon fibre keyboard deck, connected by a single, sturdy hinge. The size of the laptop is light and compact for a 15.6-inch laptop. The entire thing is between 0.45 and 0.66 inch (11 mm and 17 mm) thick thanks to the wedge shape. Models start at four pounds (1.8 kg), but that's for a non-touch display and smaller 56 Wh battery. Most will experience the 4.5 pounds (2.0 kg) of the larger battery and 4K display. Dell sets its premium laptop design apart partially through the ports that the greater dimensions allow for it to maintain while others trudge on into that USB-C dongle domination. For instance, the Dell XPS 15 features a full-size SD card slot, HDMI and USB 3.1 where the MacBook Pro sticks to four Thunderbolt 3 ports.
Anyone who thinks the display is at the top when making a laptop checklist will find it hard to be disappointed with the XPS 15. The XPS 15 features a 15.6-inch display in 1080p at a 1500:1 contrast ratio, 100 percent Adobe RGB color accuracy, and an anti-reflective finish to cut down on glare. Sure, it will drain the battery faster, but it will look stunning in the process. A user can expect reliable, strong performance out of the XPS 15 in both general and intense tasks, from gaming to video rendering and everything in between. The XPS 15 is powered by an Intel Core i7-8750H processor, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card with 4096 MB GDDR5 VRAM, 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD. It is a powerhouse for media editing, just don’t expect to play the latest and best PC games on the Dell XPS 15, especially not at 4K. At most, a user will be able to play at 1080p resolution at middle settings to produce a smooth and playable experience. Dell has managed to considerably improve upon battery life year after year with the XPS 15. However, at 4 hours and 11 minutes of general use, the XPS 15 won’t last you all day. Thus, it is recommended to bring a power adapter if a user wants to be out all day. Though showing its age, Dell's XPS 15 is still the sleekest desktop replacement on the market, from its terrific 4K touchscreen to its beefy six-core CPU. It's a great pick for everything from video editing to 1080p gaming.

15.60":
15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
