New Vostro. The Vostro 3500 has Intel's latest hardware and Nvidia's GeForce G310M graphic card in a new aluminum case, as well as a few improvements in the configuration to offer in this review. As usual, Dell also offers numerous options besides that.

Overall the Dell Vostro 3500 offers a lot of bang for the buck. It’s not a fancy laptop, but for under $700 I got a quality built laptop with good performance. The look may be a little bland for some, there’s no glossy finish or fancy design at work here. Another minor complaint is the laptop is not as configurable online at Dell.com as I’d like it to be. However, at the end of the day the fact you get a new Core i3 or i5 processor, aluminum case, standard speedy 7200 RPM hard drive, built-in web-camera, and solid build all for $600 - $1,000 depending on the configuration I would consider the Vostro 3500 a strong buy for students and business workers that are interested in this desktop replacement style laptop.

Dell's Vostro 3500 does exactly what it says on the tin. The laptop is a value-for-money mid-range system for small business customers. Although it has few frills, this Vostro meets all a customer's basic requirements, and looks a bit more stylish than the original Vostro models. However, adding to the basic features soon bumps up the price.

By replacing the staid design of previous machines with a tough and sleek consumer look, Dell has hugely invigorated its Vostro range. The addition of powerful Intel Core i3 technology and fantastic usability adds enormously to the package, making for another great success for Dell.

Dell: Dell is a U.S. manufacturer (based in Texas) of computer hardware founded in 1984 and is one of the largest international manufacturers in terms of both market share and notebook models. Its product line includes desktops, notebooks, storage systems, monitors, servers, printers, consumer electronics and peripherals. Dell offers laptops that are suitable for various applications, such as business laptops, gaming laptops, ultra portables and workstations. Dell's business laptops from the Latitude and Precision series are an option for professional users and businesses.
In 2023, Dell had an approximate 17% market share of global PC sales, ranking #3 after Lenovo and HP.
For gaming enthusiasts, Dell's Alienware brand is for gaming notebooks.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.
NVIDIA GeForce 310M: The GeForce 310M is the successor of the GeFore G210M and based on the same chip with very similar clock rates (shader speed +30MHz to 1530MHz).
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
NVIDIA GeForce MX350: Successor of the MX250 and most likely a renamed GeForce GTX 1050 based on the Pascal GP107 chip with 640 shaders and a 64 Bit memory bus for GDDR5.
Intel Iris Xe G7 80EUs: Integrated graphics card in Intel Tiger Lake G7 SoCs based on the new Gen. 12 architecture with 80 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock rate depends on the processor model. The Tiger Lake chips are produced in the modern 10nm+ process at Intel.
Intel UHD Graphics 64EUs: Integrated graphics card in Intel Alder Lake SoCs based on the new Gen. 12 architecture (Xe) with 64 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock rate depends on the processor model.

Intel Core i5:
430M:
The Core i5-430M is a middle class dual core CPU that features only 3 MB L3 Cache (compared to the I7-640M) and clocks between 2.26-2.53 GHz (Turbo Mode). Furthermore, VT-d, trusted Execution and AES features are missing in the 430M. Thanks to Hyperthreading, 4 threads can be processed simultaneously. An integrated graphics card (Intel HD Graphics with 500-733 MHz) and a DDR3 memory controller are also included in the package.
Intel Tiger Lake:
i7-1165G7: An upper mid-range, quad-core processor of Tiger Lake product family. The i7 is designed for use in ultra-light (yet actively cooled) laptops; it is manufactured on Intel's third-gen 10 nm process marketed as SuperFin. The CPU cores run at 2.8 GHz (base clock speed @ 28 W TDP) to 4.7 GHz (single-core Boost frequency). This i7 features the 96 EU Intel Iris Xe G7 iGPU; it was the second-fastest CPU of TGL-UP3 line-up when Intel initially launched the series in 2020.
Intel Alder Lake-M:
i5-1235U: On Alder-Lake based mobile CPU with 2 performance cores and 8 efficient cores. The performance cores offer hyper threading, leading to 12 threads that can be processed. The CPU clocks from 0.9 to 4.4 GHz. The TDP is specified at 15 Watt.
i3-1215U: Alder Lake based mobile CPU with 2 performance cores and 4 efficient cores. The performance cores offer hyper threading, leading to 8 threads that can be processed. The CPU clocks from 0.9 to 4.4 GHz. The TDP is specified at 15 Watt.

72.48%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
