Fast Business. The Latitude E6430s offers nearly the same dimensions and weight as the 13.3-inch E6330 but with a 14-inch display. Has system performance and battery life suffered as a result from incorporating the larger display?

As hot as ultrabooks are these days, business class laptops are still the best way for many of us to get through the workday. And the Dell Latitude E6430S is a well-rounded business laptop. It can handle the rigors of travel and the bumps and scrapes that come with being carried around the office. Of course, performance is crucial, and the laptop has the performance you'd expect at its sub-$1000 price point.

Overall, the Latitude E6430s is a sturdy mid-range laptop offering a good mix of capabilities for mobile workers. However, the battery life is unimpressive and this model puzzlingly lacks even the option of 3G broadband capability.

Overall, there's a whole lot that Dell gets right with the Latitude E6430s. It feels very solidly built, yet it's light compared to similar business laptops from competitors. And its keyboard is a pleasure to type on, thanks to the raised edges of the keys and a much-appreciated adjustable backlight. Its real-world application performance and battery life are admirable, and its array of ports is adequate (though we can grumble about the USB port placed at the rear instead of on one of the sides).

The Dell Latitude E6430s is a strong performer. It's built for tough environments and has strong battery life to boot. While our $1,646 configuration is on the pricey side, having a solid state drive on board makes a big difference in terms of boot time and overall responsiveness. Is this our top 14-inch business notebook? Not quite.

Despite its continued efforts in the consumer market, Dell is still a box-shifter at heart and has refreshed its entire line of Latitude laptops.

Just in time for fall shopping, the Dell Latitude E6430 is a 14-inch laptop that hopes to break through. It has a sturdy design, very strong performance and extra long battery life. It does weigh more than other similar laptops and has a few other small quirks

The Latitude E6430 has a lot going for it: strong performance, extraordinary battery life, a world-class keyboard and an attractive chassis that's designed to take some punishment. Users may want to consider the similarly-priced 14-inch ThinkPad T430, which has an even better keyboard and pointing stick and offers 3 hours of more endurance with its 9-cell battery.

From the armored exterior to the all-day battery, the Dell Latitude E6430 ATG is the best laptop you can buy for business-class capability and a design that will survive anything from splashes to dust storms. Compared even to other semi-rugged laptops, the Dell Latitude E6430 ATG leads the pack in terms of performance, durability, and battery life. While the heavy-duty design is expensive overkill for the office-bound, it's definitely the smart choice for anyone who has seen a regular laptop fall to the hazards of the elements, and earns our Editors' Choice for rugged laptops.

Dell’s latest Latitude gets off to a good start with a range of features that’ll please those who work in tough environments, such as exceptional build quality, an anodized aluminium lid and even insulated corners and port-covering flaps. Its hard-wearing design comes at a cost, though, with a mediocre screen and a specification that won’t sate high-end users. If you prize toughness over sheer speed, though, this is certainly worth the price.

Ivy evolution. It took a bit over a year before Dell updated its new Latitude range business laptops for the known reasons. Our review reveals which new features we can expect apart from Intel's latest Ivy Bridge generation - and what the 14-inch business device has to set against the prestigious competition.

The Dell Latitude E6430 sells at a price of Rs. 94,139 in India. It’s not exactly the cheapest notebook or the best value-for-money notebook around. It's made for businesses. It doesn’t have a spectacular performance to boast of, but it does have a solid build and it’s going to last you a very long time. If you’re the kind of person who primarily works on documents and spreadsheets with the Internet and likes to chill out watching a movie every now and then, then you’ll find this to be a good long-term purchase.

Dell: Dell is a U.S. manufacturer (based in Texas) of computer hardware founded in 1984 and is one of the largest international manufacturers in terms of both market share and notebook models. Its product line includes desktops, notebooks, storage systems, monitors, servers, printers, consumer electronics and peripherals. Dell offers laptops that are suitable for various applications, such as business laptops, gaming laptops, ultra portables and workstations. Dell's business laptops from the Latitude and Precision series are an option for professional users and businesses.
In 2023, Dell had an approximate 17% market share of global PC sales, ranking #3 after Lenovo and HP.
For gaming enthusiasts, Dell's Alienware brand is for gaming notebooks.
Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.
Intel HD Graphics 4000: Processor graphics card in the high end Ivy Bridge models. Offers a different clock speed in the different CPU models (ULV to desktop quad core) and therefore a different performance.
NVIDIA NVS 5200M:
Business-oriented graphics card based on the Geforce GT 620M (most probably the new 28nm GF117 version) with slightly reduced clock rates.
» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.
Intel Core i5:
3360M: Fast Ivy-Bridge-based dual-core, 2.8-3.5 GHz, includes HD 4000 GPU
3320M: Fast Ivy-Bridge-based dual-core, includes HD 4000 Graphics, core clock 2.6 - 3.3 GHz
Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
3520M: Fastest Ivy-Bridge-based Dual-Core, 2,9 - 3,6 GHz core clock
3667U: Fastest Ivy-Bridge-based ULV-CPU in Q2 2012. Offers a core clock of 2.0 - 3.2 GHz and an HD 4000 GPU (350 - 1150 MHz). The TDP is rated at 17 W.

14.00:
14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.

77%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
